School me on farm fresh eggs

Gal bought these today.

(1) told not to refrigerate them; they have a protective coating on them to preserve them. What is that?

(2) told they’ll stay fresh up to 4 months?

(3) only to wash what is to be consumed right before cooking?

Anything else I need to know?

I can't tell you much, but i had a bud buddy give me some and they are WAY better tasting than grocery store eggs.

I have read some on this. The standards here vs Europe are quite different. That is their natural protection, but washing eggs has become the standard here. If that is removed they need to be used much sooner. Dunno about four months, personally I'd use them before then.

I had unwashed eggs last me 7 months. If you decide to was wash them and not refrigerate then you must coat them with mineral oil. They'll keep for about 6 months.
Make sure you store them in a cool dry place, away from direct sun light.

Had chickens for 4 years. Never refrigerated the eggs , just washed them before use.

I liked them better than store bought eggs. Never had any remain unused beyond 7 weeks , egg salad, fried egg sammichs, quiche, etc

No green ones. We leave ours out on the counter until we get too many and they share with either neighbors or people at work. Wash before eating and enjoy.

I had green, brown, and blue eggs.

They have a better flavor because they are not raised on the meal fed to egg producers.Forage chickens that eat bugs and grain are much better

My Grandfather used to say, "Eggs you get in the grocery store ain't fit to eat". There were a lot of chicken houses near where I grew up and we always had fresh eggs.

(1) The protective coating is the hen's butt gel

(2) They'll last for months on the counter

(3) Definitely wash before cracking. It's butt gel.
