Rusted steel pennies. Pissed off.

My friend and landlord used a battery charger along with a plastic tub of water to derust some old cast iron pans. If I'm not mistaken he put a little salt in the water before cranking up the power. But it got ALL the rust off in a short time.

Been meaning to set up one for years.

I gave them a cursory brush cleaning, dried them out (while kicking self in the butt) and are now sealed in the FoodSaver bags until I can get back to them. I'll revisit these ideas soon.

Have this hand full of steel pennies I found in the safe. Forgot they were there for about 10 years and ran across them looking for something else.
I am pissed - totally did not expect his and it was easily preventable.

No lose whatsoever even in excellent condition maybe 50 cents each. They did make a few mistakes in copper an they're worth serious money.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, get them appraised. Cleaning coins in any manner can seriously degrade the value. Have them checked first and the expert can recommend how to best clean the coins, if recommended at all.
