I've been to a couple of rimfire matches at Riverbend Gun Club that were from 200 yards.
The .22 LR shooters who scored the highest all said that they use standard velocity match grade ammo.
Not high velocity stuff.
Sure, the bullet will drop an additional foot from their 100 yard zero, but they dial it in, or, at Riverbend, they also have two targets set up one above the other, spaced the correct distance to match the 100-200 yd. additional drop.
You aim for the top one, but your bullet hits the bottom one, and that's the one that gets scored.
The best shooters were getting something like 3-inch 10-shot groups at 200 yards from the prone position.
Chief is a good guy. He's been running that range for a long long time, so he's seem some dumb ****. He has a good heart, and once he gets to know ya, then your in the circle.

Have had lots of good times up there. Need to come shoot one of Caswell's 22 matches. Going out to 400 or so now.
I've stopped shooting past 500 there. The walk is miserable, the creek will steal your shoe, and the targets are too damn big
