Are you recommending I cover the TV with something to prevent them from spying on me? Do I need to keep it covered while watching?

Good info, OP.
Running expensive electronics behind a battery backup also seems to help protect against power surges.

Hard wired Ethernet connection killed the TV's computer mainboard and wireless module. Leaving it set up as wireless this time, to cut off that avenue of electrical attack.

Power supply wasn't damaged and I didn't have to replace it.

Just turn the TV towards the wall to be on the safe side of it

Thanks for posting. Movers damaged our tv (didn't know until like a month later) and the sound doesn't work right. If you push on the back of the tv in the right spot it will work for a while, then the sound cuts off again.

Haven't taken the back off yet to see if anything is obviously broken/loose.

Sounds like a loose speaker wire. If it's not an easy repair, you might consider a low cost soundbar. You'll get better sound than the TV puts out, and you won't have to trash the TV just because of sound problems.

I highly recommend keeping it covered at all times; especially when watching.

They didn’t have my mainboard in stock, referred me to a guy who would repair the old one for sub $100 including shipping w/guarantee………..
