Stick a new spring in and you should be GTG.

I would go ahead and replace both the mainspring and trigger spring and you should be good :-)

These are common wear items and the failure may not have been related to the 3" shell.

That looks quite similar to the Savage 720 that BLIP is restoring for me. Give him a shout and see if he can help you out.
