My first deer rifle was a 2nd hand Remington 270 BDL that I sold (for peanuts) to my best buddy back in the mid 80’s. I’ve always regretted letting that rifle go....
I recently picked up another new model Short action 700 SPS with the x-mark trigger and heavy bbl. it’s a nice rifle and the stock isn’t terrible but just doesn’t hold a candle to the walnut and ebony stock that I remember from years ago.
If I could find a short action heavy bbl BDL stock what would be some considerations to take into account to swap from the plastic stock? Any chance my bottom metal and trigger guard would swap right over or were there any changes made over the last couple of decades that might not let this work out?

The BDL parts. Such as the trigger guard with attached bottom floor plate should work just fine. Internal magazine goes between the floor plate and action should be fine. Sometimes I have had issues with screw lengths. That’s an easy fix.
