Rebarreling a Mosin Nagant

I've been on a DIY kick lately. This is a long post.
I don't know why, but I started wondering if you could get spare barrels for Mosins and and replace a worn out barrel.
You can pay for the service, it's not cheap, but it's not prohibitively expensive either if you can live on ramen for a couple of weeks.

Then I checked Youtube and found Bruce. He's an interesting guy. I learned that people are taking UK-59 vz machine gun barrels and cutting them down on lathes to fit Mosins.

This is the video I found him on first. He removes a Mosin barrel from a receiver.

They have done this but don’t expect old machine gun barrels to be the pinnacle of ballistic excellence

Back before someone started making barrels for the PSL, we used to use Nagant barrels turn ed down to the proper journals.

I'm not sure about the nagant barrels but the uk-59 barrels are pricey. At one point there was a site selling them already threaded for the nagant.
