Pond fishing. What is your approach?

I love to pond fish with a fly rod. Small brown gaddis with either a green or yellow stripe. Bank fish mostly, but i really like to drift out in a jonboat and cast back towards the bank

the trick is figuring out what the existing fish are feeding on. Then mimick that color and action with artificial lure. When I do not know I typically start out with a green chartreuse rooster tail. If I have no luck I resort to colorful top water rattles. Then no luck I resort to worms. Then last resort explosives.

Try some bacon for cat fish. They will tear it up. The best part is the bait lasts a long time with many fish caught on one piece.
