Both KelTec 5,56 rifles & pistols have successfully utilized POLYMER uppers for 5 years now

Damn, I forgot about those. Well played, Sir. They also did the piston driven upper before the AR community picked that up.

Have had no problems with my Bushmaster Carbon 15 other than the dust cover not latching. I fixed that and have had no issues since.

Carbon 15 uppers[ and lowers] are carbon fiber, not polymer. They are much stronger than a polymer upper would be. I've seen 22 ar 15 clones with polymer uppers but never any centerfire rifles.

Only reason i could think of is weight and truly the difference for just the upper is minimal. Role it out with a standard upper buddy youll be just fine and it will be more durable.

"Carbon" uppers are glass fill polymer with a mineral additive.
