Starr Mtn. in Tennessee overlooks the Hiawassee river good selection of different rocks and beautiful scenery overlooking the river valley

There is a spot on Hwy 60, just north of Dahlonega's R Ranch (Hwy 60 & 19). Take 60 north at Stone Pile Gap (towards Suches) about 2 miles up on right. Great parking off the road. Lot of folks used to rock climb and rappel.

Exactly the spot I thought of when I read the OP. Passed it today as a matter of fact. Haven’t rappelled since firefighter days. Fun stuff. We used forestry commission fire towers.
