I left home at 6:30 this morning and got to the south store at 7:15. I was the sixth person in line. There where alot of nice Springfield service grades but none quite as old as I had hoped and the ones that where in the year range I was looking for either had a replacement stock or more muzzle and throat wear than I had wanted. But I kept browsing and looking and happened to notice the low serial number on this rifle, and the stock looks to be a gi stock. Once I picked it up everything I wanted feel into place. Gi stock, war time reciever, low throat and muzzle numbers, so I decided this was the one. I also picked up a 1944 dated web sling and 200 rounds of ammo.

If you're going because you want another Garand (never a bad thing), then go for it. But go ahead and shoot what you have - you'll likely not wear it out anyway and you can't take it with you when you die.
I just want another to have and I think there a pretty great deal for what your getting.
