RSO Course Outline
This course is designed to prepare experienced shooters for the basic duties of a Range Safety Officer (RSO). RSO’s ensure that those on the range follow regulations and rules of the range in order to reduce the potential for injury, damage and liability. RSO’s have responsibilities to take immediate action when circumstances require it. The RSO is the range’s eye's, ears, and common sense on the firing line to ensure safety and to help shooters.

Becoming a Range Safety Officer is a huge responsibility, similar to becoming a NRA Certified Instructor, with much harder testing and the maintaining of a certification card with the NRA. RSO candidates will need to pay $35.00 for processing their application and $5.00 annually to maintain their certification.

Course Goal:
“To develop NRA Certified Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.”
