Sparrow Defense will be teaching the NRA Certified Personal Protection In the Home course at a private range facility near Watkinsville, Georgia on the 3rd of January, 2014.

This 8-9 hour course covers the legal, ethical, and practical considerations for defending yourself and your family from an unlawful intruder inside your HOME. This course will be taught using the NRA Certified class material. The instructor will also cover use of force and Georgia Law during the course of this class.

The live fire portion of the class will be conducted on an OUTDOOR RANGE facility. We will be shooting with multiple individuals on the line and working cover / concealment during the course of the live fire exercises. NRA Range Safety procedures will be enforced. The NRA Portion of the class will conclude at approximately 5:00 PM, after which, students are invited to remain on site and shoot in low light conditions to become familiar with low-light shooting at no additional expense as a preview to low light shooting techniques.

Topics covered will include:
Use of Cover / Concealment
Use of Flashlights and Weapons Mounted Lights in defensive shooting scenarios
Mindset and Stages of Alertness
Clearing weapon malfunctions and rapid shooting
Contact with Law Enforcement and Emergency Services personnel in a deadly force scenario
Ways to make your home less appealing to criminals

The cost for this course is $150.00. A deposit of $50.00 is due upon registration.

The course fee will cover all class materials, classroom fees, and range fees. Students will be responsible for bringing their own equipment and ammunition. Students should bring approximately 250 rounds of ammunition for the course of fire but are invited to bring more if they wish to practice or shoot after the end of the formal class.

Please contact me at sparrowdefense@gmail.com to register or with questions.

Completion of NRA Basic Pistol / Pistol First Steps or the pre-course evaluation will be a pre-requisite to participate in the course.

We have covered benches set up at the 100 and 50 yard lines, but beyond that we're open to the air. In the summer we generally set up awnings near the firing line so that the students can take a break between exercises and on break periods.
