Typically, there's a date code on the barrel, right in front of the receiver. In the Model 11s built in the 1930s-1940s, it's very often a 2 letter code with the first designating the month and the second indicating the year of manufacture (i.e. BK is January, 1941).Cut it down to about 20-22 inches and have it threaded for REMChokes. Call Remington and they will date it for you. They dated my Model 11 to 1914. I cut mine to 18in and cleaned it up and fit a semi-fit stock to mine. They are fun guns.
