I have one just like that but in great shape. It is probably a Caiman so it can be resold if you want.
My family left Germany in 1926 and went to Cuba. He also lived in South Africa before WWI and was interned in the Isle of Man during the Great War. I have a small Elephant’s Tusk and a stuffed Sea Turtle. Can’t sell them since I have no import papers. I have no kids.

My pa is dead. I’m available for adoption. German too!

It would be nice to know the history of that, always interesting how that piece was made and was it a gift or did some family member make it?
