Anyone interested in joining the club next year needs to make sure they are good long range shooters. A lot of this land will be hunted from three or four permanent stand locations specifically set up for long range shooting. The woods around the travel paths of deer entering these fields will be off limits to close in hunting.
I think any prospective members are going to have to make a trip to Gun Site Hills with me to prove it would be ethical for them to take a shot out to at least 500 yards. There are also going to be fines for any deer wounded, but lost.
The most important element in ethical long range hunting is the good judgment of the hunter and I'm going to expect that from any members. If you're not absolutely sure, don't pull the trigger.
