My neighbor pushed up a berm for us to shoot (into) on my place

The plate will destrory the bullets that hit it solidly.
The backstop will catch any bullets that were a "clean miss" of the plate and don't touch any steel as they pass by.
BUT, if your bullet just nicks the edge of that plate, the top edge in particular, it can deflect and MISS THE BACKSTOP, taking off at a 30-degree angle up and to one side or the other.
Ideally, your berm would be a lot taller, wider, and perhaps wrapping around the target stand / gong in a "C" shape.

Nice, we had something like this in Korea , we used it to Zero in our Weapons.
Positive side is that it’s in the middle of 100 acres of pines
People have to pay big money these days to get that done. Buy him a nice gun or something like that.
