Last year I started hearing (I thought) tree frogs but in the yard. Every time I tried to track one down it would stop making noise when I got close. Finally I heard the frog noise coming from a hole near the driveway. I dug it up and found this monster.

They actually dig a tunnel to amplify their noise. Now my yard has hundreds of these things in it all burrowing and eating my grass roots. I'm spraying poison (again) today. Hopefully I can kill these things before all the noise starts again this year.

When I put out tomato or pepper plants, I always wrap a one-inch wide strip of foil around the stem that was at soil level to protect the plants from mole crickets which stopped them.
