I grew up in the Midwest with mule deer. When I shot my first deer here, a ~120 pound doe, I thought the guys that grew up here were being sarcastic in telling me it was actually a pretty respectable harvest, my rifle was almost as long as she was. I still sometimes confuse them for long legged dogs at a distance when I see them out in my neighborhood on my morning runs.
I still get jealous of the kind of pics OP has of deer that put a goodly amount of meat in the freezer in one go.
We had some monster deer in western PA.
The only thing I miss from up there is the hunting and fishing.
Saw the biggest deer I’ll ever see on my father in laws farm being chased by dogs but he didn’t seem too worried.
He stopped to look at us and give us a mental memory for a lifetime.
He had to weigh over 400# and was supisingly nimble for a creature it’s size.
