Interesting read about the SA 1911 that was used by the Marine Corp. They built these puppies in house and shot the piss out of them. I couldn't believe it, 800,000 rounds on a single frame. They would replace the internals every 10,000 rounds or so.

Here is the parts list to build a SA Mil Spec similar to the MEUSOC 1911

I guess if you didn't want to make an exact replica, you could just put Pachmaye grips on a Loaded and call it a day.

This is what the MEUSOC use now.

Nice......thanks for posting. Still the best pistol to bring into battle.

BTW...for those not familiar, MEU (SOC) stands for Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable). Its basically a composite force made up of several different elements and can kick a$$ anywhere on the planet within a short amount of time. OOOOORAH SEMPER FI

The kimbers never saw action. Several of the det 1 guys I served with said they had reliability issues. As of 2008 the standard MEUSOC, like the one pictured were still being used in MARSOC, although most had novak sights, but not all. It was a damn fine piece of kit and I never felt ill equipped carrying it.

First, I would like to thank you guys and your families for your service and sacrifices to this county.

Figures.... they should have went with the MC operator. That thing looks tough as nails

I stumbled across some utube 1911 porn, while researching the MEUSOC M45, check it out.

The first vid is the MC Operator, to be honest I'd prefer this one over the TRP.

The next vid is the SA Loaded, I just picked one up last week. I can't wait to punch some paper with it.

Most of the frames are surplus ww2 guns too. Made in house at the 12 shop at Quantico. Made one up years ago to spec. Good guns dont have to be fancy to be reliable. Kimbers are crap imho, and I would not own one. If you want a combat 1911 then it needs to be build from the frame up. Most of the ones I have handled did not have the pacmeyer grips on them, standard plastic with stipling on the front and rear of the grip.
