Learning about mandrel sizing and in theory it sounds like a superior way of sizing. Anyone currently use this method have any tips or advice on it? Also if you recommend it what equipment do you recommend

I have been using lyman 310 expanding dies (mandrels) for reloading for the last 50 years -
lyman M dies and rcbs expanders are similar --
It is a convenience for me loading cast bullets as the 310 "mandrel"is stepped -
I see no great need or major improvement using one over standard dies -
Perhaps a bit more useful with new brass, but you could just neck size new brass if it is undersize -
a new wilson tool for the reloader who needs everything ---

I use a wilson mandrel die for 308 and soon precision 223. Shrunk my groups by 2 inches. Haven't used an expander ball since.
At what range did the groups go down 2”, 100, 600, 1000? I’ve been happy with my RCBS Competition dies for years, but shaving 2” at 600 would be significant.

Tagged for info. I don't see a huge gain from it but I'm willing to be "convinced" otherwise.

Maybe worth a test.
I hadn’t thought about it before, but if you know how far the shoulders are getting bumped as we should, theoretically you could trim before sizing making everything easier. That alone would be worth it for volume match rifle.

It was at 100 when j first started getting into precision loading. My load holds 1 moa out to 600 out of my m77 mkII
