the Reel will only slowly turn with quite a bit of effort as of now Have not been able to get the spool to come out yet.

ok try citric acid. i use it all the time. gotta desolve that rust.

Keep trying turning the reel and keep putting oil in it,, what reel brand is it?

O I'm willing to take it apart and clean it, that's what I'm trying to do with it. Its not coming apart.

Big ass hammer will fix it.

Cortland Crown II, Soaked it in pb blaster while I redid the carb on my weedeater, then sat while watching tv and worked it back and forth while pulling it apart, as it did move but just barely. After about 20 minutes noticed it had moved about a 1/16 of an inch apart so I kept on about another 10 minutes and got it apart.

Looking at it, it appears that the grease that was on the stud the spool goes on had hardened and thickened. Cleaned it all off hit it with strike force lube and runs like its new now.

P.S. Appears to have zero rust in it
