I always passed that spot up in the spring and opted to fish Allatoona Creek for White Bass. Way less folks to compete with.

better to try the Etowah at the Veterans cemetery off Knox Bridge
before you turn left into the gate at the top of the hill look to the right
a little walk down but well worth it

PS: I have not been this year, but the White Bass should be jumpn' on the hook at this time

That stretch of river is mostly fished in the Spring during the White Bass spawning run.

That's when I've seen the most fish also.

I don't know what else might be in that river, but the White Bass swim up it, spawn and then swim back down to the lake. It all happens in a very few short weeks in the Spring.
