I think I use mostly Stren for mono line. I do not know if its any better or worse than any other brand.
well, consider the weight of the fish you expect to catch.....I've not seen many 6lb trout pulled out of the hooch....to the fellow who said he's been using yellow mono for 45 years....not sure it was available then....BUT braid line seems stupid....any mono would probably be fine....I think the most important thing is fresh line....
this is a 4lb'er pull out just below the dam 25+ years ago...a stocker obliviously...

but you cant get the distance with mono that you can with braid which is my whole purpose for the braid.
only bad thing is he kept/killed the fish. that lady could have produced many many more to be just like her.
im not against keeping a few fish but i wont keep them that big. 1, they wont taste good that long in the hooch,
2, i care more about the conservation than the pats on the back.
