That's right.
Looks like a near exact copy of the earliest Smith & Wesson model 1 1/2 revolvers, some of which offered birds head type grips. Marlin's version came more than a dozen years after the originals by Smith.
Marlin made about 9000 revolvers of this model, from 1878 to 1887.

We talked about these a few weeks ago--
it looks like an Asian hand cannon or hand gonne. From the 13th century, probably. A very primitive early example without any wooden stock or pole.
