Knife Store in Gatlinburg just pulled all AR pistols with braces

Buddy of mine at the knife store in Gatlinburg just sent this photo. Said they pulled all their AR pistols with braces. They told him the ATF said all braced guns and possibly at pistols would now require a tax stamp.

Hadn’t seen anything on this, what is the ruling and is today the day it went into effect?

I guess they could be afraid customers had not read the news and might want to return them.
I doubt distributors will want to take them back.
