Kitchen knife set that isn’t junk?

If you're open to buying one or 2 nice knives, you can check out https://japanesechefsknife.com/

I bought a Santoku for a general purpose knife and have added a few others as time and money allow.

The one I bought uses a VG10 core and stayed sharp for 4 years before I bought a whetstone when I bought other knives.

Does anyone remember the original Ginsu knife that was called the Quickut or Quickut Quickkie? My MIL bought one in the 70s and still has it. Believe it or not, it’s still very sharp today, and she’s never sharpened it. I used it when I was at their house down in FL a few months ago. Cut right through a steak just like buttah.
