Just what is a Hispanic?

An ethnic, quasi-racial? classification of peoples who speak a similar base language, maybe? The irony of it is that many 'Latin' (another oddity I won't delve into here) extract countries pride themselves on their language, heritage and culture while speaking the language of their former conquerors....

Couldn't have said it any better. Pretty much a U.S. Gov way of pigeon holing and dividing people as well.
