Yes it's been a long time since I have been on here. No I am not dead or in jail. I got married.
This is a very interesting piece.
Side plates are inscribed with H. Holland which means they were made prior to 1876. No serial number so can't be sure of exact date. The barrel release is a very rare style where you push the lever forward instead of swinging it to the side. Unfortunately there is a large chunk missing from the toe. Holland and Holland quoted me $4000-$6000 for a new stock.
Beautiful Damascus Barrels with Full Holland and Holland address and London proofs are also unserialized. After a lengthy discussion with the Dallas office of Holland and Holland, they have postulated the lack of serial numbers indicates it had new barrels made for it sometime in the 1880s. Action is crisp and tight. Hammers function as they should.
Asking $4000. Not particularly interested in trades but offer away.
