I have several boxes of .256 Newton. As I understand it, when the Gov't. was investigating changing from the .30 government, several calibers were considered, .256 Newton being one. Of course, as we all know, Springfield won out with the 30.06. Newton had far reaching knowledge of ballistic coefficient before almost any other manufacturer of his time. I believe he actually broke 3000 fps with some experimental stuff. Can't be certain of that, I remember reading that somewhere.
