If you don't follow the quarterly conference calls and such, I would only look at ETFs.

SPY and DIA are a great start and are fully diversified.

I agree with the logic. However, The markets seem to be at a high currently, I don’t believe it is the right time to purchase an ETF that is diversified to represent the market. Wait for that correction then be ready to buy. JMO
