I have 10.000 to invest

Holding < 5 years = Online “High Yield” (ha!) Savings Account
This won’t make you any money, but you won’t lose it, either.

Holding > 5 years = Mutual Funds
Quarter it up between Growth Stock Mutual funds, with 10+ year track records of 10%+ returns avg over those 10 years, in the following categories:
  • Small Cap Growth
  • Mid Cap Growth
  • Large Cap Growth
  • International Growth

ETA: Single stocks are basically gambling

I am planning on building a house to just want some place to stick some cash for a few years thanks that is good advise to a amateur such as myself

Mutual funds are a "safer" investment for short term (Under 5 years). Tech company's like Zillow or Amazon are decent as well.

I have had good success with Ameri Funds myself but the others mentioned are top brands.

I just started a booming sign business. I’ll sell ya 7% for 10k.

Talk to a "Fee Only" Financial Advisor. He will charge you a fee upfront but will not get a commission on investments. Money well spent.

And now that you have announced to the world that you have the money, don't respond to any messages or email from a Nigerian Prince.
Or Gary Homser.
