Been in ODT for awhile, haven't figured out a few things yet.
Maybe it's my age or effects of stroke or too many medications.
Like in the for sale sections. Can't figure out why:
1. Items for trade only. Just want other stuff, cash won't do.
Seems to me can sell it then buy what you want. Guess trading
does help avoid paying sales tax.
2. Items for sale or trade. Why is trade value higher than cash price?
Seems like I had more questions to ask for clarification but that's it for now.
Will add others if/when memory beams them bacck up.
Had an interesting Want To Buy experiene recently.
Member looking for a made in U.S.A. item which
I have left over from my dad. Sent him a response
saying I had such an item from dad's estate, provided
type, and brand name etc from item. Offered it for $25
local pickup or shipped USPS priority box.
His reply asked for a picture and how much is priority?
I'm unable to send picture with my basic flip open phone
and basic plan which provides phone only no texting ability.
So sent an online picture of exact same thing in same condition
(like new). Said not sure what current USPS priority was but it's
included so figure it's about $17 for item and $8 s&h.
NO response for 2 days. Sent inquiry as to whether he received
last pm and if so like courtesy of a response.
His reply was that I couldn't even send him a picture so why does
he owe me a response?
Now we're talking about a household item from the 1960s that
costs $25 not a $400 firearm. Have all positive feedback even
though not a whole lot. And the inability to send an actual photo
(which can be photo shopped to enhance if deception is the plan)
blows the whole deal? Guess it's just a sign of the times. Not like
old days when a man's word was worth something.
I did take time to answer again, suggesting even if he didn't want
it (for whatever reason) a 'no thanks' would have been courteous.
This type of encounter reminds me of a bumper sticker on a friend's
old Toyota Hi-lux. "The more people I meet the more I like my dog"
