Hunting 101 Getting Started?

Take the hunter safety course like mentioned above. It is required to get a hunting license. Some of the different WMAs have "hunt and learn" opportunities.

Solid advice. Get your hunter safety course. Attend a hunt and learn event.

Best advice I can give is find someone to teach you how to clean a deer (or whatever game you're after) before you kill one yourself. I don't know how many times I get the "hey I killed a deer can you come show me how to clean it" call. You don't want to find yourself with a deer and no idea what to do with it....don't rely on a processor to do it for you, they may not be open by the time you get it out of the woods.
