How do you keep weapon light clean!

It seems no matter how far I push it back on the rail, (within reasonable usable distance) it still gets completely covered with carbon soot. I recently found an optic flip up cover that fits it but it dang flies off when it get hot..or is knocked off by the force.

Anyway, there HAS to be a better way.

Chapstick. Rub it on the lens and bezel before shooting and when it's time to clean, it'll wipe right off.

I just purchased these lens covers from Amazon. They are disposable, so you just swap them out once they are dirty.

That's like wiping dishsoap on the bottom of your camping cooking pots before you use them.
