High school cars....

WoW!!! this is getting interesting!!!
So...2 full time jobs, cars paid for in cash, by teenagers...banks making loans to teenagers.....all this while in high school, or, in some cases in elementary school.....8,000 rpm out of a large block....floating at 140mph...or is it 160....I'm so overwhelmed, I really do not remember...I suppose nobody had to pay insurance.....mussel car...teen ager....paid for in cash.....I'm sure insurance was almost free....wonder where it is that you can do 160mph??? next thing....somebody will have had the Saturn 5 rocket booster strapped on the roof of their vega....filled up on regular....
Never been down I-16 in the early 80's I take it. It's okay man. Some of us were workers and earned decent grades and even went to college without asking mommy and daddy for anything.

Well, I had to drive my Old Man's Truck, a C-10 1980
Something like this:

You could do 160mph on the road in S Fla that I lived on. No houses, 18 miles without a rise, hill or knoll. Straight as an arrow. NO traffic at all but I have killed 2 cows driving in two separate incidences. You could see for miles and see any traffic headed your way. Bet it is still that way today. I was not driving but rode with a guy driving an XKE 2+2 to 157mph.
I used to drive I-10 to JAX every week (2011-2015) and in some spots easily topped 105 mph and STILL had folks passing me like I was standing on the side of the road.

Did you have a mullet? Porn stash?
AND,
3500lbs is not light. It takes horses to move that kind of weight
4k and over is what we call heavy for a truck so yeah, 3500 would be a bunch.
My car had a small fire inside on my way to see Foghat cuz the hot wire from powerbooster I connected to fuse panel was touching another wire ...took a while to notice since the car was already filled with smoke
I sure miss the power boosters.
This is what I wanted in high school. I drove something that was not as fast and not as cool. :dispirited: Still like this generation of Fox bodies.

My second car was an 83 with a 6 cyl w/ 4 speed i think. It was black with a huge ugly cobra on the hood.

Nope....not I-16 too far away....we had Ga Hwy 400....worked from when someone would drive me, until now....never went without a job.....I suppose you too??? didn't have the time to get to college....I never found the money to by a muscle" car....like some have said....I did have to give money to parents to cover some of my "expenses", then pay my way....left when I hit 18....guess I just choose different things to buy....it's all good
