Herpetologists Step Inside

I heard they taste like chicken.

That's only rattlers, water rattlers and other assorted pit vipers in SE Alabama.

For the record, it's yummy (rattler), but does NOT taste like chicken. Texture more like alligator tail.

One friend said the taste was halfway between a spotted owl and a bald eagle. :D

I have a picture of the same (sized) snake from 2 years ago - coming out of a mole/vole tunnel opening -

I wonder if they stay around that long or if there may be multiples.

The trick will be to prevent my Mini Aussie from trying to kill old daddy no-shoulders.....

I did witness it striking aggressively at my older and less agile Springer Spaniel but the dogs had ruled it up.

Had two that hung around in the fence around the pool for 10 years..one would leave a 7.5 foot shed and the other a 6.5 when they were here we never saw a bad snake in the yard.
