Help identifying cartridge

I found this round in a large box of old obsolete ammunition that I purchased at an antique show. Any help identifying would be appreciated.

Looks a lot like a rainy Saturday goof round. I've seen these types of things before. Made up, not real, never a gun chambered for it most likely. I've seen lots of wildcats and cartridge conversions, even have books on how to made/do them. I vote goofing around.
