Help identifying a rifle

So... all I know is it’s a bolt action. Has an I and a D on bolt. Barrel says made in Italy. Serial G2833. Also on the left side at the rear of the bolt there are the letters ROCCA or ROCOA or similar. It looks like it takes a mag but the more I look, I don’t think so. Looks to be a cartridge bigger than that opening. Maybe you load it from the top? There is a bar inside that you can push down. If it weren’t for that mag well looking area, I would guess some king of 6.5 maybe. And it has carvings on either side of stock but I’m guessing that could have been done by someone who owned it.

m38 carcano cut down italian service rifle -- 6.5mm - need a clip to fire as a repeater otherwise load single shot -- If it has been shortened it may not be to accurate as many used gain twist rifling -
