no amount of ear protection is sufficient at an indoor range when shooting a rifle, or being within a few yards of some other guy on the firing line using HIS rifle.
Eyeglasses or safety glasses ALWAYS interfere with the seal of earmuffs to the sides of your head, and make them less effective.
I use them anyway, AND foam plugs. But I still don't want to be in any indoor range when a centerfire rifle is being used.
Electronic ear muffs (alone) are good for outdoor shooting of rimfires and many non-magnum centerfire pistol calibers. Being able to talk with the people you're shooting with / coaching is a big bonus.

Like you've never done it. I've used them when things got unexpectedly loud on a construction site as well. It's been a while though. I'm a little more sophisticated in my old age.
