You've got a zero out of place. There's been 2,100 deaths, not 21,000. (Actually 2,191 as of this posting).

2,191 / 330,000,000 = 0.0007%. Or 7 ten thousands of one percent.

The CDC estimates somewhere between 24,000 and 64,000 deaths from the REGULAR flu this season. 80,000 died last year. But sssshhhh.... that's apparently a secret.
