OK, WTH? So I've taken a couple runs at this and gotten frustrated and now it's getting to crunch time. I need to renew. I live in Gwinnett. My original permission slip was graced to me in Gwinnett.
According to their website https://www.gwinnettcourts.com/probate/georgia-weapons-carry-license
I have to complete the same application again.

OK, fine. Then apparently I have two options, get it notarized (I do NOT want to do that) or MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to go to the probate court and hand in my application and pay the vig. Apparently, you can no longer just walk in.
But I'm supposed to make an appointment, according to their website, here https://www.gwinnettcourts.com/weapons-carry-licenses/calendar4T.aspx
Can someone please tell me how you make an appointment at that link?
Of course no one answers their phones.
I love dealing with governments. I mean I REALLY love it.

So I guess they got tired of the phone ringing. The reason you can't request a date on that link is..... there are no dates available. When asked how I'm supposed to make an appointment then, the answer? "Just keep watching the calendar, we may get a cancellation."

Wow. What a PITA. Yes, you can mail it in but you MUST have it notarized. Well guess what? The notary refused to do it since the form doesn't show a place for a notary to sign. I told her "The county website says to notarize it where the clerk normally would. I understand you don't want to do that, can you just notarize my signature?"
"Nope. I can not add or delete anything to a form I'm notarizing" :frusty:

To save other Gwinnettians the headache, since this is NO WHERE on their website.... Fill out all the forms, and simply don't sign it. Bring it to the ESTATE OFFICE of the Probate Court. Someone in there can sign it and witness your signature. Put it all in an envelope, INCLUDING a SASE (never got a clear reason why that is necessary) and then drop it in the drop box outside their door.

Good grief.....

That first link shows me a calendar button, but apparently the calendar isn't an online appointment-making system or anything modern like you'd expect. I think you just have to choose an open date and call back to schedule the appointment. From the looks of it, their first open slot isn't until December:

Nope, supposedly it IS working and there are NO DATES AVAILABLE. It is not updated from Dec. 14th going forward. You are supposed to "keep checking in case there is a cancellation." Such a cluster.

It's not like the entire concept of the permission slip doesn't whizz me off already, dealing with them over complicating something that SHOULD be effortless, like a renewal, just really added a little joy to my day.

Yes, I feel better now..... :)
