Great Outdoors Show®
The first Atlanta Fisharama was held in February at the Atlanta Civic Center in 1984, later moving to the Lakewood Exhibit Center in 1988, and on to the Atlanta Expo Center in 1991. A spring turkey hunterâs festival was held in conjunction with the 1989 Fisharama featuring the U.S. Open Turkey Calling Championship at the Lakewood Fairgrounds. Fisharamaâs were also held at the Augusta Civic Center and Albany Civic Center in February of 1990. In 1990, the Georgia Chapter NWTF came on board at the Lakewood Fairgrounds Fisharama hosting the Turkey Hunters Festival and the Dixie Classic Calling Contest. In 1991, they were held in Atlanta and Augusta with the first Fisharama in Perry at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. Following the 2007 Fisharama/Turkeyrama in Atlanta, Georgia Wildlife Federation made the decision to combine both the Atlanta and Perry Fisharama/Turkeyramaâs into one Great Outdoors Show held each February at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia, where the show continues to date.
The show is presented by the Georgia Wildlife Federation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and helps fund education and conservation projects benefiting sportsmen.
