Had one show up in my backyard years ago picking out fresh sushi from the pond.

One cleaned out my BIL’s Koi pond a few years back. Several hundred dollars worth in a few days. BIL said he was sitting drinking coffee one morning, saw the heron spear and swallow a few. Came back every day ‘til he cleared the pond.
I laugh every time I think about it.

The pond builder put a Koi in the pond and it was gone quick. After adding more plants I added a couple gold fish from Pet Smart and the heron showed up when the fish got to be a decent size. After that I bought a bunch of minnows from a bait store and they survived.

I had a couple eating small trout out of my stream several years ago..But they are gone and I have no idea why!
