Took a drive up to Frederick, CO this morning to check out the Chainsaws and Chuckwagon Festival.

The artists are given a piece of raw wood (they do not get to choose it themselves) and have three days to figure out the shape that's I side of it, then cut it out with a chainsaw and make it all purty. The city then auctions off the artists work, with a starting bid of $1500.00. Winners have until the last day of July to move their wood.

They cannot work on it elsewhere, nor can they work on it outside the festival hours

There was a friend of one of the boys that did this. Always astounded me that he could just take a stump or log and just find something amazing inside.
Sadly he passed away at 42 from a congenital heart defect and we lost all that talent.

I had the strongest crosswinds I've ever experienced on a motorcycle riding thru Frederick CO. I had to pull over and seek shelter for a couple hours!

We had the same happen the first time we drove I-25 up to Cheyenne. I could not figure out why my car was pulling hard to the right until some tumbleweed blew across the road.
