I'd much rather use "Oh my God" than "Oh my Allah" as an expression.
Some of these attention seeking people who write these articles inject their own personal opinion into it and profess that it is the only way that it should be done or said, etc. The more controversal they are the more attention they get and the more money they get paid for their next article. They remind me of the childless women who write the books on the proper way on how to raise a child.
If I say "Oh my God", it is NOT in vain and if it offends you, then I consider it an accomplishment.
