I remember it as butanone from o chem. Was a go to solvent. It’s working on the varnish, but I’ve never seen fuel varnish this bad.it is an alternate, but less effective substitute for acetone.

And once you get those ketones in your body, they're in you for life and the only way to test for them is a spinal tap. Used to work with the stuff for years and never knew how bad they were for you. We didn't use any safety gear or protection. Literally used it to wash our hand and scrub off with.Watch using MEK...known carcinogen.
Both MEK and Acetone are used as a dryer in meth labs.The MEK you buy at Home Depot is a highly diluted concentration, you need the real stuff. If you know someone with a body shop, get some from them, they should have straight MEK. I had to register with the DEA for our company to be able to purchase it.
Probably why I had to register with DEA...lol. we bought a 55 gallon drum every couple of months and kept it in a locked explosion proof security cabinet.Both MEK and Acetone are used as a dryer in meth labs.
