Item Description: The fine print first: I'm not interested in trades at this time. Cash only - physical cash, not Paypal, Venmo or other service. To save you an email, if this ad is up, the shotgun is still available. All transactions will take place near downtown Roswell in the driveway at my house, next to my neighbor's police car. Note that if the shotgun doesn't sell, I will drop the price like it's hot every few weeks; so instead of sending a "What's your lowest price?" email, just wait until the price meets your expectations and THEN email me and come get it. Patience is everything. I'm more interested in slowly freeing up closet space as opposed to needing to sell quickly.

Covid precautions: I'll leave the garage door open, and leave plenty of space between us; I've had all of my vaccinations, so I have high hopes of surviving any transaction. I'll wear a mask if it makes you feel more comfortable. Otherwise, I'll pretend like it's 1999.

This is a Winchester Model 1200 shotgun, manufactured in New Haven, CT. Winchester was sloppy with the serials during the late 60s, but here's what we know:

1) Winchester added the “L” prefix to comply with the Gun Control Act (GCA) enacted in the latter part of the year 1968.
2) The production year for 1972 ended with serial L739617.
3) The serial of this gun is L5773XX.

So, those facts tell us it was manufactured between 1968 and 1971. This was my Dad's backup deer gun (see my other ad for the Browning A5), so it hasn't seen a lot of use from the time he originally bought it to the time he stopped shooting in the late 80s. It spent the remaining time after that in the closet until now. Dad cleaned his guns like clockwork, so this is still in good condition. I have not cleaned the gun myself, so once you get this cleaned up I think you'll be in for a treat visually. It looks pretty good now...look at that shine (I haven't touched it).

FAQ

1. Will you hold the gun for a certain date for me to pickup?

Unfortunately, I've dealt with many no-shows over the years, so I stick with a "first-come-with-cash, first-served policy." I won't hold a gun for multiple days. However, you can be assured that when we schedule time for you to come over, I will not sell the gun out from under you.

2. Can I see more photos?

I'm not sure if this site allows for external links, but if so, you can download a zip file of the original images here: https://couchmando.com/misc/win1200/win1200.zip

How's it choked?
Look at the second photo, under the "Model 1200." You'll see "FULL."

In terms of barrel length, I know you're supposed to measure from the breach face to the end of the barrel, but I don't have a dowel to allow me to make that measurement. However, we know that the 1200 came with both 28 inch and 30 inch lengths, but the 28 inch was fixed choke, leaving 30 as the only option for this model.

Thanks. The "FULL" is hard to see in that photo, but I can kinda see it now. Yours is indeed a 30 inch barrel. All the barrel lengths were fixed choke in this era.
