It offers not only a great deal of output power, but also the ability to drive 2 ohm loads, such as multiple speakers connected to the same output.
Power Output Based on the Federal Trade Commission's power rating standard, the FA901 outputs 225 watts per channel into an 8 ohm load.
With 4 and 2 ohm loads, it can produce 300 and 400 watts, respectively. Bridging the two channels to make it into a monophonic amplifier, the FA901 generates 600 and 800 watts into 8 and 4 ohm loads.
Sound Quality While outputting 300 watts of power, the FA901's frequency response from 20 to 20,000 hertz remains between perfectly flat and a nearly inaudible 1/2 decibel below flat. It also generates less than 0.025 percent distortion when generating 300 watts of power into a 4 ohm load.
Connectivity The FA901 offers two different line level inputs. It can accept a stereo pair of balanced XLR connectors, or bare wires connected to its barrier strip. Crest has also equipped the FA901 with a pair of eight-pin accessory sockets that you can use to connect a range of components, such as a crossover or transformer, to the amplifier.
For outputs, it offers either a stereo pair of standard five-way binding post speaker terminals, or a barrier strip for bare wire connections.
Dimensions The FA901 is neither small nor light. Its net weight is 35.5 lbs. and it measures 3.5 inches tall, 19 inches wide and 14 inches deep.
