Yeah, they were apes that frequently came into camps and stolen things. Some swear they were mysterious creatures like Bigfoot, but there were photos taken of them that proved they were just apes. There was 1 reported attack on military personnel. Doctors ultimately concluded the use of LSD and marijuana, in conjunction with the stress experienced in Vietnam, is what caused hallucinations and alleged sightings of monsters.

When I saw the thread title I thought I was going to get to share the story of the one time I went on a blind date, but it was in the states.

They were only in the northern part of the country, up in the mountains. They were called Rock Apes because they were known to throw rocks at people sometimes. Some jittery new recruits were known to bust a cap in them occasionally.

They are still around and not just Asia, anywhere you have a Company area with 4 holers, anytime you try to do your business, they show up and throw rocks at you..Most Officers took a dim view of it, but none were actually seen or captured....
